Job Description

Terracon is launching an exciting new program to develop and grow our Exploration Team Members through a partnership offering a DOL-approved apprenticeship as a Construction Craft Laborer. In this entry-level role, you will work on sites, observing and assisting under an approved mentor or journeyworker. We provide a documented training program to ensure comprehensive learning and career growth, with the potential to lead your own crew as an Exploration Team Member (ETM).

This is a traveling position. You will be based in the DFW area, with work deployed across the US after initial training. This role offers opportunities to acquire new skills, meet experienced ETMs, and participate in diverse projects while being an employee-owner at Terracon, where safety and community are prioritized.

As you progress towards becoming an ETM, responsibilities include subsurface exploration using various drilling and testing techniques, installation of instrumentation, and involvement in solar project pile testing. Daily tasks involve surveying, site reconnaissance, sample collection, equipment maintenance, and paperwork.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Load tooling and materials
  • Assist in drilling operations
  • Support solar pile driving and testing operations; collect soil and rock samples and log data
  • Perform routine equipment repairs and maintenance
  • Conduct basic surveying and site reconnaissance
  • Drive medium-duty trucks and trailers
  • Inspect and maintain equipment
  • Follow safety protocols, participate in pre-task planning, and report safety concerns
  • Maintain quality standards on all projects
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • No prior experience required
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history
  • Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card within 30 days of employment

This role requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions, lifting a minimum of 50 pounds regularly, and working around machinery in noisy environments. Travel is required, and employees are subject to DOT drug testing and medical monitoring.
