Job summary

Cable Services Company Inc. is seeking a Directional Bore Operator / Locator for field work across the Northeast, with extended travel and multiple nights away from home. The role requires coordination with bore crews, equipment operation, and accurate documentation.

Local assignments are exceptions. Responsibilities include equipment handling, drill setup, locating utilities per blueprints, and maintaining safety standards on site.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret engineering/construction prints, plans and specifications.
• Knowledge of utility depths and placements.
• General knowledge of construction practices.
• Ability to work in various environments/settings with moderate to loud noise levels.
• Ability to work in trenches, manholes and tunnels.
• Attention to detail and thoroughness in tasks.
• Ability to move materials weighing up to 80 pounds.
• Ability to work 10+ hour days when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload bore equipment securely.
• Transport tools, materials, and equipment safely.
• Inspect bore equipment daily before use.
• Prepare drill fluid per site conditions.
• Locate/operate the directional drill and place cables.
• Operate horizontal directional drill per standards.
• Locate cables and verify with blueprints.
• Identify utilities and bore path.
• Connect conduits and wires.
• Dig pits or trenches as required and restore sites.
• Complete company documentation (timesheets, logs, expenses).
• Follow safety policies and perform duties safely.
