Role Overview

The primary role of the Dental Assistant is to support the success of the clinicians through effective delivery of the Perfect Patient Experience (PPE), creating a Patient for Life (PFL). Dental assistants perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties, including preparing patients for examinations and assisting in treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform functions in accordance with applicable state’s Dental Auxiliaries Table of Permitted Duties.
  2. Participate actively in PPE, focusing on patient-centered care.
  3. Escort patients and introduce them to team members as appropriate.
  4. Communicate effectively with front and back office teams to ensure smooth scheduling.
  5. Maintain a clean and sterile environment, sterilize instruments, and disinfect equipment.
  6. Prepare patients and assist the dentist during procedures, including radiographs and intra-oral pictures.
  7. Prepare tray setups and maintain supplies in each operatory.
  8. Support patient care by instructing on postoperative and oral health care.
  9. Record patient information accurately in the digital chart.
  10. Support clinical and administrative functions as needed.
  11. Ensure equipment and supplies are maintained and available.
  12. Participate in team meetings and uphold company values and standards.
  13. Adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; additional training or certification as mandated by state.
  • Valid licenses/registrations as required.
  • For specialty roles, valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school, or equivalent experience.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency with basic computer software.
  • Results-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
