Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned Construction Manager to supervise underground fiber construction projects across multiple markets. You will lead field crews, coordinate with the Director of Construction, review drawings, and ensure on-time, safe delivery of HDD, cable plowing, trenching, and conduit installation.

This role requires five+ years of experience, hands-on knowledge of underground methods, and the ability to travel nationwide.

Job description

• Supervise underground fiber construction operations, including directional drilling (HDD), cable plowing, trenching, and conduit installation
• Manage field crews and subcontractors on active construction projects
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies and industry standards
• Oversee damage prevention initiatives, quality audits, project documentation, and closeout activities
• Coordinate project schedules and construction activities with the Director of Construction
• Review construction drawings, project specifications, and as-built documentation
• Monitor project progress, productivity, and crew performance
• Travel with the project as construction advances through multiple markets and regions

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of Construction Management experience
• Proven experience supervising underground utility or fiber construction projects
• Hands-on knowledge of HDD/Directional Boring
• Hands-on knowledge of cable plowing
• Hands-on knowledge of trenching
• Hands-on knowledge of conduit and duct installation
• Experience managing multiple crews and/or subcontractors
• Experience in fiber telecommunications, OSP, utility construction, backbone, middle-mile, or long-haul network construction
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively nationwide
• Comfortable working on a rotation of 4 weeks in-market followed by 1 week remote from home
• Strong organizational and leadership skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and project scheduling tools
