Job summary

Stout Building Contractors is seeking a Traveling Foreman to work alongside the onsite Superintendent, ensuring safety, schedule and resources stay on track wherever the project takes you. You will lead by example on the ground, communicate clearly with all team members, and adapt to new jobsites and crews as the footprint expands across the Intermountain West and beyond.

Required is a high school diploma or GED, with 1+ years as a foreman/supervisor in construction.

As a Traveling Foreman at Stout, you'll work side-by-side with the onsite Superintendent to keep safety, schedule, and resources moving in the right direction — wherever the project takes you. You'll be the one keeping the crew focused, catching issues early, and making sure the details are right before they become expensive problems. Right now, most of our projects are in the Intermountain West and Pacific Northwest, though our footprint keeps pushing east — so where this role takes you may keep expanding, too.

• Travel home twice a month, fully paid — or we'll cover a trip for your loved one to come visit you instead.
• Every travel and lodging expense covered, along with a daily meal per diem.
• You're never on an island: expect regular, ongoing check‑ins with a mentor/coach (your Field Director), plus support from your project team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

• Partner with the onsite Superintendent to keep the job's safety, schedule, and resources on track.
• Follow all relevant safety regulations and perform regular safety inspections.
• Plan, implement, and manage day‑to‑day construction tasks in line with project priorities and goals.
• Resolve issues and problems as they come up, keeping the job moving smoothly.
• Coordinate labor and other resources to keep the crew productive.
• Double-check form dimensions ahead of concrete pours to confirm they match the construction plans.
• Schedule inspections.
• Roll up your sleeves for hands‑on work, such as installing door frames.
• Occasionally run errands for jobsite supplies and tools.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE NEEDED:

You're comfortable reading plans and applying your knowledge of building codes and standard construction practices on the fly. You bring strong organizational skills and can juggle multiple priorities without losing track of the details.

You communicate clearly and confidently with everyone on a project — project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and local jurisdictions alike.

Because this role travels, you're ready to adapt to new jobsites, new crews, and new surroundings, and you take it in stride.

ROOM TO GROW:

This role isn't a dead end — it's a launching pad. Many of our Foremen grow into Superintendent roles within three years, with a Field Director invested in your development every step of the way.

REQUIRED:

• Willingness and ability to travel to job sites as needed.
• High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor's degree is a plus.
• 1+ years' experience as a Foreman/Supervisor leading a team in the construction industry.
• Familiarity reading plans and understanding building codes and standard construction practices.
• A valid driver's license and the ability to drive.
• Ability to perform physical tasks throughout the day (standing, walking, climbing, bending) and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
