Job summary

Zernco, Inc. in Wichita, KS is seeking a Carpenter or Carpenter/Foreman to perform construction and demolition tasks, travel nationwide, and supervise field operations. Ideal candidates will have OSHA 10, a valid driver’s license, and experience operating heavy equipment. Willingness to travel 100% and pass safety trainings are essential.

Qualifications

• OSHA 10 certification within the first 60 days of employment.
• Basic knowledge of OSHA standards and construction safety procedures.
• High school diploma or GED preferred; or one to three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Experience and license to operate rough terrain forklift, bobcat, and lifts highly desired.
• CPR and First Aid certified highly desired.
• Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in rough and finished carpentry in commercial settings.
• Basic knowledge of building codes and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Travel nationwide up to 100%, committed to getting traveling employees home twice per month.
• Attend weekly safety meetings and perform work in compliance with safety rules and procedures.
• Construct, repair, restore, and install structures such as floors, doors, walls, windows, stairways, furniture, cabinets, shelves, kitchen equipment, and roofs.
• Operate and perform preventative maintenance on hand and power tools such as saws, planers, lathes, joiners, shapers, drills, sanders, and a variety of hand tools.
• Install locks, knobs, hinges, closures, and other fixtures to structures.
• Install siding, drywall, insulation, tile, and other wall or floor coverings.
• Install and repair molding and trim of windows, doors, baseboards, mantels, and other ornamental pieces to ensure quality finished work.
• Check work to ensure it is compliant with codes and specifications.
• Clean equipment, shop area, and work site area daily to eliminate possible hazards.
• Load, unload, and identify building materials and tools and distribute them to locations as instructed.
• Erect and disassemble scaffolding, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
• Position, join, align, and seal structural components.
• Build and position forms for pouring concrete and dismantle forms after use.
