Job summary

Barton Malow is seeking a Traveling Superintendent to lead field operations on automotive manufacturing projects across Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and Tennessee. You will own the work in the field — safety, schedule, quality, manpower, and coordination — and you will be the person the owner, the trades, and your project team look to for how the job gets built.

The role requires eight+ years in construction, strong scheduling, and the ability to travel between sites.

Qualifications

• Eight or more years of construction field experience, including time leading crews as an assistant superintendent or superintendent.
• Experience on industrial or manufacturing projects; automotive experience is a strong plus.
• Willingness to travel and move between project sites in Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and Tennessee.
• Working knowledge of OSHA 1926 and a demonstrated safety leadership record.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and equipment installation documents.
• Strong scheduling skills and comfort with construction software platforms and MS Office.
• Direct, credible communication with trades, owners, and project teams.
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent field experience.
• OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, and other safety certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own site safety. Enforce safety policies and site-specific requirements.
• Lead daily pre-task planning, toolbox talks, and job hazard analysis with crews and subcontractors.
• Direct day-to-day construction activities, sequencing, and manpower on site.
• Plan site logistics, laydown areas, crane/ equipment usage, and utilities.
• Hold subcontractors accountable to schedule, scope, quality, and safety commitments.
• Coordinate equipment deliveries with owners and vendor teams.
• Build and drive short-interval and look-ahead schedules; support overall project schedule.
• Maintain QA/QC inspections, punch lists, and daily field documentation.
• Lead, coach, and develop project engineers and field staff.
