Job description

Description

Ventura Air Services is a Part 135 on-demand charter operator standing up a dedicated in-house AOG response capability based in South Florida. We're hiring two Traveling AOG Technicians to join this new team — hands-on A&P mechanics who deploy on short notice to return aircraft to service anywhere on the road. This is a high-visibility role: you'll troubleshoot, repair, and clear discrepancies that would otherwise sit with outside vendors, acting as the operator's first line of defense against schedule loss.

Position Summary

The Traveling AOG Technician is a hands-on A&P mechanic who deploys on short notice to return aircraft to service anywhere on the road — troubleshooting, repairing, and clearing discrepancies that would otherwise sit with outside vendors. You own the aircraft on site, drive the event to closure, and keep Maintenance Control informed with accurate, real-time status.

Primary Fleet Responsibility
  • Bombardier Challenger 604 — GE CF34-3B series engines
  • Cessna Citation 560XL series — Pratt & Whitney PW545 series engines

Cross-fleet support of additional company aircraft types may be assigned as qualifications allow.

Requirements
AOG Response and Road Repair
  • Deploy on short notice (including nights, weekends, and holidays on rotation) to AOG aircraft at outstations; travel by company vehicle or commercial air as the event requires.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and return aircraft to service in accordance with the GMM, manufacturer maintenance manuals, and applicable regulations.
  • Provide realistic, defensible return-to-service estimates to Maintenance Control and update immediately when conditions change — no status surprises.
  • Execute run-up, leak check, and operational check requirements, including ground power and engine runs per company checklists.
Maintenance Control Coordination
  • Work under the direction of Maintenance Control for event prioritization, parts sourcing, and escalation; participate in the daily fleet operations brief when deployed.
  • Document all work in the company maintenance tracking system (Jet Insight) with complete, accurate discrepancy and corrective action entries.
  • Support MEL/NEF deferral evaluation with accurate on-aircraft findings so airworthiness and deferral decisions are made on good information.
Vendor and On-Site Representation
  • Act as Ventura's on‑site representative during vendor‑performed maintenance events: verify reported status against actual aircraft condition, monitor schedule performance, and flag scope creep or unauthorized work before it lands on an invoice.
  • Receive, inspect, and accept incoming parts against condition and documentation standards; reject nonconforming material.
Scheduled and Preventive Support
  • Perform line maintenance, servicing, and scheduled task support at base and outstations between AOG events.
  • Maintain assigned tooling, calibration status, and vehicle/parts kit readiness for immediate deployment.
Required Qualifications
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate in good standing.
  • Minimum 5 years of corporate/business aviation maintenance experience, including line and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Direct maintenance experience on Challenger 604/CF34 or Citation 560XL/PW545 aircraft (both strongly preferred; one required).
  • Proven independent troubleshooting ability — comfortable being the only technician on site with remote engineering and Maintenance Control support.
  • Valid driver's license and valid passport; able to travel internationally without restriction.
  • Able to pass DOT/FAA drug and alcohol testing and participate in the company random testing program.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; disciplined about documentation and status reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Inspection Authorization (IA) or prior RII/required inspection experience.
  • Factory or type-specific training (Bombardier CL604, Citation 560XL, CF34, PW545).
  • Avionics troubleshooting exposure; borescope experience; engine run qualification.
  • Prior Part 135 or Part 145 experience with MEL/CDL/NEF programs.
  • Experience representing an operator during third‑party MRO events.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Lift up to 50 lbs; work from ladders, stands, and confined spaces; extended standing, kneeling, and overhead work.
  • Work outdoors on ramps in all weather conditions, including night operations.
  • Irregular hours, on‑call rotation, and multi‑day deployments away from base.
Compensation and Benefits

$80,000 – $135,000 annually, commensurate with experience and type qualifications — plus on‑call/deployment premiums, company vehicle or travel provisions, tooling allowance, and standard company benefits package.
