Field Project Manager I (Hazmat/ Environmental Abatement) – Clean Harbors, Mason, MI

Seeking an experienced professional to lead and complete hazardous material abatement and environmental projects in the region, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and compliance.

Travel: 50–80% of the time, on‑call, emergency response.

Compensation: Hourly Range: $80,000—$90,000. Salary Range: $49,800 – $159,964 annually.

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of project management duties including contract management, quality control, project supervision, accounting, health & safety, and resource management.
• Manage asbestos abatement and remediation projects in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (EPA, OSHA, NESHAP).
• On‑site management of select projects may be required.
• Extended periods of travel are expected and likely.
• Ensure proper handling, containment, transportation, and disposal of asbestos‑containing materials (ACMs).
• Coordinate air monitoring, site decontamination, and final clearance testing with certified professionals.
• Manage all phases of proposal preparation/submission and review contracts and negotiated changes prior to execution.
• Participate fully in marketing efforts to establish new accounts, service existing accounts, and procure new business opportunities.
• Ensure items for field use are purchased according to procurement regulations and within budget.
• Personnel management of assigned department, including recruiting, job assignments, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions.
• Ensure company‑owned vehicles and equipment operate safely and are properly maintained.
• Ensure accurate project cost reporting, revenue reporting, and other financial data are submitted timely.
• Contact clients to arrange payment on past‑due accounts.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the subject area preferred; alternatively, equivalent combination of training, education, and experience demonstrating ability to perform duties.
• Knowledge of asbestos regulations and industry best practices, including AHERA, NESHAP, and OSHA 1926.1101.
• Ability to interpret asbestos survey reports, work plans, and abatement specifications.
• Familiarity with personal protective equipment (PPE) and engineering controls related to asbestos remediation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to present and communicate at all levels.
• Computer literate and proficient with MS Office Suite.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
