Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Travel RN – Telemetry Stepdown in South Bend, IN, for a 13-week assignment starting 01/12/2026. You’ll work 36 hours per week on night shifts (3x12) in a stepdown unit with cardiac, stroke, and renal patients, including 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratios and floating as needed.

Scrubs must be royal blue or white. The role requires IN compact license or active license, 1–2 years telemetry/cardiac experience, ACLS/BLS/NIHSS, and cardiac rhythm proficiency.

Qualifications

• Active IN or compact RN license; pending accepted if active before start
• Minimum 1 year telemetry and cardiac/stroke experience; 2 years preferred
• Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications required
• Proficient in reading, identifying, and responding to cardiac rhythms
• Cardiac drip experience required
• Travelers must live at least 50 miles from facility
• First-time travelers accepted
• High pay and bonuses listed in job ad

Responsibilities

• Work on the stepdown unit in a short-term acute care hospital
• Care for cardiac, stroke and renal patients
• Telemetry and intermediate care with 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Night shifts, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30) with weekends as required
• Floating to similar or lower-acuity units as needed
• Manage cardiac drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lasix
• Hemodialysis beds with external provider involvement
• Provide all modes of oxygenation except ventilators
• Monitor and respond to complex telemetry and cardiac rhythms
• Renal patient care with external dialysis providers
• Royal blue or white scrubs required
• No call requirements
• Holiday coverage may be required
