Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist for a hospital surgery department position requiring National Certification and current Washington State Surgical Technologist licensure.

Role involves scrubbing in on the OR team, maintaining sterile fields, and supporting a variety of surgical procedures. Day/evening schedule 3x12s with call; travel and licensure reimbursements provided.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.
• Current Washington State Surgical Technologist license required if applicable.
• National Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists required.

Responsibilities

• Hospital surgery department setting.
• Day/evening shift, 3x12 hour shifts, 36 hours per week.
• Scheduled hours of 0730-1900.
• Call requirements apply.
• Function as a vital member of the OR team, assuming responsibility for the scrub position during surgical interventions.
• Maintain a safe environment through technical and aseptic practices according to AORN standards and facility policies.
• Demonstrate proficiency in surgical procedures across a variety of services.
• Set up and maintain the sterile field and assist team members as needed.
• Demonstrate proper use of instruments, suture, and stapling devices.
• Follow appropriate procedures for obtaining, returning, cleaning, and disposing of equipment.
• Prepare for procedures according to surgeon preference cards.
• Report and recognize faulty equipment or unsafe conditions.
• Accurately perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts at appropriate times.
• Save and properly identify specimens according to department policy.
• Demonstrate the ability to handle emergency situations.
