Role Responsibilities

Surgical techs are vital members of a hospital's healthcare team, acting as a surgeon's right hand. Responsibilities include preparing surgical equipment, assisting during procedures, and ensuring patient safety before, during, and after surgery. Additional duties may involve coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, maintaining accurate records, and providing compassionate, individualized care to patients and their families.

Requirements for Application

Applicants must have active certification from NBSTSA, NCCSA, or ABSA, or possess at least ten years of surgical tech experience if uncertified. Evidence of at least one year of experience in adult cardiothoracic surgery within the past three years is required. Graduates from accredited programs and scoring 80% or higher on Nomad competency exams are preferred. Facility acceptance of non-certified techs varies.
