Qualifications

Responsibilities

Surgical techs are an integral part of a hospital's healthcare team, acting as a surgeon's right hand. They prepare surgical equipment and assist surgeons and surgical teams before, during, and after procedures. Responsibilities include coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, maintaining accurate reports, and providing individualized, non-discriminatory care to all patients, families, and staff.

Requirements

To apply, you must have an active certification from NBSTSA, NCCSA, or ABSA, or a first assistant certification, along with at least one year of experience as an Adult Cardiothoracic surgical tech or first assistant, and recent experience within your specialty. Non-certified candidates must have at least 10 years of surgical tech experience, subject to facility acceptance. Graduation from an accredited school and scoring 80% or higher on Nomad competency exams are also required.
