Description
American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist for a hospital Same Day Surgery unit, requiring 2+ years of general OR experience and BLS certification.
Details
- Hospital-based Same Day Surgery OR setting
- Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM including late days
- General OR skill set covering a broad range of surgical specialties including bariatrics, endoscopic/laparoscopic, ENT, general surgery, gynecology, orthopedics, ortho/spine, ortho/total joints, plastics, podiatry, and urology
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist required
- BLS certification required
- State license required if applicable
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Experience with a wide range of surgical case types including bariatric, ENT, endoscopic, general surgery, gynecologic, orthopedic, plastics, podiatry, and urologic procedures
- Proficiency in aseptic technique, instrument processing, isolation precautions/PPE, sharps safety, specimen handling/labeling, sterilization/disinfection, and universal protocol (time out) procedures
- Familiarity with OR equipment such as electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, drills, case carts, and crash carts
- 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role; charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted
Additional Information
- Perform surgical technologist duties across a variety of case types including bariatric, ENT, endoscopic, general, gynecologic, orthopedic, plastics, podiatry, and urologic surgeries
- Support aseptic technique and sterile field maintenance throughout procedures
- Assist with instrument and equipment preparation, including care of scopes, fiber optic equipment, and sterilization processes
- Participate in universal protocol and time-out procedures for patient safety
- First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel assignment experience
- Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
- Former employees are eligible for a new travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
