Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist with experience in multiple specialties for a hospital operating room position. The role involves assisting surgeons, maintaining a sterile field, preparing instruments, and coordinating with RNs throughout 40-hour weeks.

Requirements include High School Education/GED, minimum 3 years OR experience, BLS, and CST certification preferred (license if applicable). Cerner/EPIC experience should be noted in employment history if applicable.

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED required.
• Minimum of 3 years of OR experience required.
• Recent OR experience within last 3 months required.
• CST certification preferred, license required if applicable.
• BLS certification from an approved vendor required.
• CNA certification preferred.
• Cerner and/or EPIC experience noted in employment history if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Hospital surgery unit supporting multiple specialties including total joint/trauma, neuro spine, vascular, and robotics.
• 8-hour shifts from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, 40 hours per week.
• Prepare surgical cases by creating and maintaining a sterile field.
• Retract and pass instruments, supplies, and medications to surgeons during cases.
• Check and assemble required supplies and equipment prior to each case.
• Review equipment inventory for assigned specialty.
• Set up and maintain sterile field with careful attention to aseptic technique.
• Complete instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with the RN according to established standards.
• Clean equipment and facilities and perform housekeeping duties as needed.
• Transport patients according to unit schedules and priorities.
• Candidates with more than 5 days of requested time off will be automatically declined.
• Candidates with a prior adverse licensure action will not be considered.
• No radius rule applies, and local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travel candidates.
• Traveler may only be submitted to one hospital within the health system at a time.
