Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Intermediate Care (IMC/Stepdown/PCU) position in Illinois, requiring an active IL license and strong telemetry skills.

The travel assignment offers a 13-week duration, 3x12 night shifts, with an option for 4x12s, and a 48-hour work week. Benefits include day-one medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k), and stipends for housing and travel. RTO rules apply.

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license at time of application; pending license not accepted.
• Minimum 1 year of recent stepdown/IMC/PCU nursing experience.
• BLS (AHA or Red Cross) and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and management of dysrhythmias.
• Experience with post-cardiac procedure care, neurology cases, orthopedic trauma, respiratory support and advanced IV therapy.
• Rapid response and emergency management experience.
• First-time travelers not accepted.
• Professional references and complete work history required.
• Must not have been a permanent or PRN employee of this health system in the past 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Intermediate Care (IMC/Stepdown/PCU) unit of a Level I trauma, Magnet teaching hospital
• Patient care includes telemetry, neuro stepdown, cardiac, post-surgical, ortho trauma, and respiratory cases
• Typical patient ratios and caseloads meet stepdown/PCU standards
• Shift schedule is 3x12 nights (18:45-07:15), with possible option for 4x12s
• Every other weekend required
• Candidates will float within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals as needed
• No on-call responsibilities
• Responsibilities include caring for diverse intermediate acuity patients across multiple specialties
• Participation in rapid response teams and use of advanced monitoring equipment expected
• Block scheduling may be possible with manager discussion
• RTO restrictions: Maximum of 5 days non-holiday time off auto-approved; holiday coverage for 2 out of 3 major holidays required
• Any solid color scrubs permitted
• Free parking with permit, issued during orientation
• Must complete required labs, documentation, and badge photo prior to start
• Initial orientation modules completed virtually on first day
