Job Summary:
Step Down Unit Nurse in a healthcare facility located in a hospital setting. This position involves providing specialized care to patients transitioning from intensive care to less acute units, managing cardiac monitors, administering titratable drips, and performing patient care duties. The role requires working in a dynamic environment with a focus on cardiac and post-surgical patient management.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, days and nights, with weekends as scheduled. Minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit, minimum of 2 years of recent step down or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, and certifications including BLS and ACLS.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cardiac monitoring and cardiac drips such as cardizem, amio, nitro, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, angiomax.
• Duties: Performing activities of daily living (ADLs), vital signs, bathing, toileting, feeding, repositioning, answering call lights, blood sugars, and managing patient documentation.
• Clinical Operations:
  • Charge nurse on each shift, with the night shift charge taking lighter patient assignments when necessary.
  • RN staff may need to troubleshoot respiratory equipment and administer breathing treatments with respiratory therapy (RT) staff available 24/7.
  • RNs are expected to read and interpret telemonitors, print strips, measure, and identify rhythms.
  • Floating to other inpatient units is authorized; float rules apply.
  • Scrub dress code is navy blue.
• Orientation: 2 days of general orientation plus 1 day with a preceptor.
• Additional Information: Facility utilizes Cerner charting system. No BSN required. The start date is 09/28/2026, and the assignment concludes on 12/28/2026.
