Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN Stepdown for a night shift position in Peoria, Illinois. You will care for postoperative and medical patients in a fast-paced acute care setting, with a nurse-patient ratio 3:1 and 36 hours per week on 12-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the licensure process has been initiated.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS recommended.
• At least 1 year of ICU/Step Down experience.
• Experience with ventilated and trached patients.
• Ability to titrate drips (Cardene, Cardizem, Amio, Dobutamine, Heparin, vasopressors).
• Knowledge of telemetry monitoring.
• Proficiency reading bedside monitors (Phillips).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced critical care environment.

Responsibilities

• Care for Step Down unit patients during night shifts in a fast-paced acute care setting.
• Monitor and respond to diverse cardiac, respiratory, neuro, and post-operative conditions.
• Assist with titrating drips and managing ventilated patients as needed.
• Participate in standard floating to related units per unit needs.

A registered nurse specializing in Step Down Units is needed for a night shift position in an acute care setting. The role involves caring for patients with diverse medical, neuro, and surgical conditions, including respiratory, cardiac, neurological, and post-operative cases. The position requires a minimum of one year of relevant experience and proper licensure to ensure compliance with organizational standards.

Required Qualifications

• Valid active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS certification required

• at least 1 year of clinical experience in ICU/Intermediate or Step Down units
• experience with ventilated and trached patients
• ability to titrate drips such as Cardene, Cardizem, Amio, Dobutamine, Heparin, and vasopressors

• Extensive ICU/Intermediate experience

Additional Information

The unit accommodates 21 beds with a nurse-patient ratio of 3:1. Two patient care technicians support each shift, each caring for up to 10 patients if the unit is full. Nurses are expected to participate in the organizations holiday and weekend rotation schedule. No call or standby requirements. Floating to other units including ICU is possible based on experience. Orientation involves a one-day training on EPIC, a one-day unit orientation, and one day on the floor with an RN.
