Job summary

Medix is seeking a Travel Sonographer with OB/GYN and Maternal-Fetal Medicine expertise to join a supportive Women’s Health team in Appleton, WI.

You will perform diagnostic ultrasound in a collaborative outpatient setting, working with 8 sonographers and healthcare providers who value ergonomics, patient comfort, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
• Active ARDMS credential (OB/GYN required).
• Current CPR / BLS certification for healthcare providers.
• Active Wisconsin license (or willingness to obtain prior to start).
• Strong hands-on OB/GYN sonography experience.

Responsibilities

• Diagnostic Imaging: Perform 2D and 3D diagnostic ultrasound examinations following established clinical protocols.
• Procedures & Assistance: Assist physicians with specialized diagnostic and minor clinical procedures (e.g., SHG, endometrial biopsies, IUD placements).
• Reporting & Documentation: Formulate comprehensive preliminary findings in Viewpoint and EPIC, documenting any limitations.
• Patient Care & Safety: Explain procedures, review histories, and accommodate limitations or anxiety for comfort and safety.
• Equipment & Quality Assurance: Maintain GE ultrasound equipment, high-level disinfection with Trophon, troubleshoot issues.

Travel Sonographer – Women’s Health / OB-GYN (13 or 26-Week Contract)

Location: Appleton, WI (Regional Outpatient Clinics)

Position Type: Travel Contract (13 or 26 Weeks)

Schedule: Full-Time, Day Shift (Monday – Friday, 8-hour shifts between 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM)

EHR & Systems: EPIC, Viewpoint, GE Ultrasound Systems, Trophon Disinfection

Patient Volume: ~5–7 scans per day (Pacing tailored for complex OB/MFM scans)

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Travel Sonographer with expertise in OB/GYN and Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) to join a highly supportive, patient-centered Women’s Health team in the greater Appleton, WI area.

In this role, you will perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in a collaborative outpatient setting. You will work alongside an established team of 8 sonographers and healthcare providers who genuinely value ergonomics, patient comfort, and team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnostic Imaging: Perform 2D and 3D diagnostic ultrasound examinations following established clinical protocols, applying critical thinking to capture detailed anatomical and pathological structures.
• Procedures & Assistance: Assist physicians with specialized diagnostic and minor clinical procedures (e.g., sonohysterography [SHG], endometrial biopsies, and IUD placements).
• Reporting & Documentation: Formulate comprehensive preliminary findings in Viewpoint and EPIC, documenting any technical or anatomical limitations in a timely manner.
• Patient Care & Safety: Prepare patients by explaining procedures, reviewing medical histories, and accommodating physical limitations or anxiety to ensure maximum comfort and safety.
• Equipment & Quality Assurance: Maintain GE ultrasound equipment, ensure proper high-level disinfection using Trophon systems, and troubleshoot technical issues as needed.

Position Requirements

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
• Certification: Active ARDMS credential (OB/GYN required).
• Basic Life Support: Current CPR / BLS certification for healthcare providers.
• Licensure: Active Wisconsin license (or willingness to obtain prior to start).
• Clinical Experience: Strong hands-on clinical background in OB/GYN sonography.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) or high-risk OB scanning.
• Hands-on experience with GE ultrasound equipment, Viewpoint reporting, and EPIC EMR.
