Aerotek is hiring a 1st Class Shipyard Welder/Fitter for contract work based out of Groton, CT. The role involves precise welding, fitting, and assembly on major shipyard projects in Newport News, VA and Goose Creek, SC, with travel.

Expect multi-pass welding, blueprints interpretation, and working with fractional measurements to achieve exact specifications in a fully onsite setting.

Qualifications

• Shipyard welding and fitting experience required.
• Interpret weld symbols and blueprints — not just read them.
• Work with fractional measurements and lay out steel components with precision.

Responsibilities

• Perform multi-pass SMAW tack welding with consistency and quality.
• Measure, cut and fit components to exact specifications.
• Assemble structural parts and operate vibratory tools like grinders and needle guns.
