Job summary

KPRS Construction Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Travel Safety Officer to support day-to-day construction activities on Houston job sites.

You will work with project management, field supervision, subcontractors and craft personnel to identify hazards, address unsafe conditions, and ensure safety requirements are followed. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in construction safety, knowledge of Title 8 and state regs, and experience with safety inspections and risk assessments.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Travel Safety Officer to support day-to-day construction activities and help maintain a safe, compliant, and productive job site. This position will work directly with project management, field supervision, subcontractors, and craft personnel to identify hazards, address unsafe conditions, and ensure company and project safety requirements are consistently followed.

What You Bring
  • Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience, preferably on commercial or large-scale construction projects
  • Strong working knowledge of Title 8, California Code of Regulations and applicable state safety regulations
  • Experience conducting jobsite safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
  • Knowledge of fall protection, excavation/trenching, scaffolding, electrical safety, cranes and rigging, aerial lifts/MEWPs, hot work, and other common construction activities
  • Experience reviewing Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs)
  • Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and take immediate action when necessary
  • Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with project management, superintendents, subcontractors, and field personnel
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
  • Candidates must possess at least one of the following:
    • Current OSHA 500 – Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for Construction, or
    • Current BCSP Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification or higher-level BCSP credential

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors and in active construction environments
  • Ability to walk jobsites for extended periods and navigate uneven terrain
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders and access elevated work areas when necessary
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and temperatures
  • Must be able to maintain a flexible schedule based on project operations and construction activities
