Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Vascular Access/IV Therapy position requiring travel experience and PICC/vascular access skills. Acute care hospital setting on the IV Therapy Vascular Access Team with 1:1 patient care and 3x12 shifts available.

The role requires active RN license (OR), BLS, 2+ years RN experience, and Epic EMR proficiency. A vehicle is required and holidays include a few shifts; local candidates may be offered lower rates.

Qualifications

• Active RN license is required.
• Oregon RN license required.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years RN experience.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Vascular access/PICC nursing experience required.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Must have a vehicle for this assignment.
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year within the last 3 years required.

Responsibilities

• Acute care hospital setting on the IV Therapy Vascular Access Team.
• Performs sterile dressing changes, peripheral IV placement, ultrasound-guided IV placement, and vascular access troubleshooting.
• PICC and midline catheter placement make up a smaller portion of daily duties.
• 1:1 patient ratio.
• Day shift (3x12, 7:00-19:00) or night shift (3x12, 19:00-7:00) available.
• Weekend shifts required, sometimes more than every other weekend.
• No on-call requirements.
• May float between units based on facility needs and to sister facilities within the health system.
• Uses Epic EMR.
• Functions as a vascular access nurse rather than exclusively a PICC team nurse.
• Responsibilities include vascular access device management, patency and site assessment, and tip placement confirmation techniques.
• Must disclose any prior employment history with the health system, including dates and location.
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel RN and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility.
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day)
• All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront during the application process
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Local radius rule of 50 miles applies
• Seasoned travelers are required for this role
