The role includes 12-hour shifts (days and nights), floating to facilities within 75 miles as needed, and using the Epic charting system to manage complex cardiac patients.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required.
BSN degree required.
Active CA RN license required at time of consideration.
AHA BLS certification required.
ACLS and PCCN certifications preferred.
Teaching hospital experience required and must be noted in employment history.
Stepdown ICU/TCU/PCU experience preferred over general med/surg telemetry.
CIWA and EKG course or cardiac rhythm recognition experience required.
Prior travel nursing experience required.

Responsibilities

Provide stepdown-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management.
Rapid response coordination and bedside patient care.
Wound care, insulin titration, and airway/ventilation support as needed.
Float to other facilities within a 75+ mile radius as required.
Document patient status and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.

American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown RN with at least 2 years of telemetry experience and teaching hospital background for a fast-paced stepdown unit.

Details

Work in the Step Down unit of a teaching hospital medical center
Variable 12-hour shifts, both day (7:00-19:30) and night (19:00-7:30), 3x12 hour schedule
Must be able to float to other facilities within a 75+ mile radius as needed
Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
BSN required
AHA BLS certification required
ACLS and PCCN certifications preferred
Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required
Stepdown ICU/TCU/PCU experience strongly preferred over general med/surg telemetry experience
Teaching hospital experience required and must be noted in employment history

Prior travel nursing experience required
Two professional references from most recent employer required for consideration

Additional Information

Provide stepdown-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response coordination
Skills utilized may include arterial line management, chest tube care, BiPAP/CPAP management, wound care, and insulin drip titration
Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed with dates, units, and manager names for rehire eligibility review
All requested time off must be disclosed and approved by the manager at time of offer; no additional RTO requests accepted mid-contract and RTO cannot fall within the first two weeks of the assignment
Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
Travel pairs allowed but generally not placed on the same unit; married couples may not work on the same unit
