Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for a Step Down unit in Michigan. Active MI RN license and 2 years of PCU/Stepdown experience are required, with BLS and NIHSS certs. ACLS/ONC certifications preferred, chemo experience a plus.

Responsibilities include 3x12 shifts (7:00-19:30), 1:4-6 nurse-patient ratios, and floating to other med-surg areas. Epic charting and Welch Allyn/Sigma IV pumps used. Travel assignment with weekend work and no on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Active MI RN license required
• BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required
• ACLS certification preferred
• OCN/ONC/ONS certifications preferred
• 2 years PCU/Stepdown experience required
• Oncology/chemotherapy experience preferred
• IV administration and monitoring chemotherapy via IV
• Starting and maintaining IVs experience
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation experience preferred
• Insulin protocol experience preferred
• Supervisor-level reference required
• Flu vaccination proof required

Responsibilities

• Step down unit caring for general medicine and oncology patients
• Day shift 3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30
• Nurse to patient ratio 1:4-6, based on chemo admits and acuity
• No on-call requirements
• Must work every other weekend
• Floating to other med/surg areas including AU and ER
• Use Welch Allyn vital sign towers and Sigma IV pumps
• Chart in Epic
• Provide stepdown-level nursing care including chemo administration
• Charge RN typically not assigned to patient load
• Weekend shifts assigned by manager; others self-scheduled
• Must be available during first two weeks of assignment
• RTO limits no more than 10 days; discuss additional requests with on-site manager
• Travelers prioritized for floating; locals accepted with no radius restriction
• Former Bronson travelers may return after 6 months; permanent staff after 1 year

• Skilled in administering and monitoring chemotherapy via IV
• Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management preferred
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips preferred
• Supervisor-level reference required
• Proof of flu vaccination required for consideration

• Step down unit caring for general medicine/oncology stepdown patients
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30)
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4-6, with ratios adjusted based on chemo admits and acuity
• No on-call requirements
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating required to other med surg areas, including AU and ER, to care for med surg patients
• Uses Welch Allyn vital sign towers and Sigma IV pumps
• Charts in Epic
• Provide stepdown-level nursing care to general medicine and oncology patients, including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
• Charge RN typically not included in patient assignments
• Weekend shifts assigned by manager/scheduler; remaining shifts available through self-scheduling
• Must be available during the first two weeks of the assignment
• RTO requests limited to no more than 10 days, with any additional requests after offer to be discussed with the on-site manager
• Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments
• Locals accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
• Previous Bronson travelers may return after 6 months; previous permanent staff may return after 1 year
