Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring post-operative open heart care experience. An active Ohio or Compact RN license is mandatory.

The role offers day shifts with 12-hour shifts and every-other-weekend work, with no on-call responsibilities. Travel-friendly benefits and housing support are included for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Ohio or Compact) currently in hand and verifiable via Nursys.
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS through the American Heart Association.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required.
• Post-operative open heart care experience required.
• Critical care experience highly preferred.
• Chest tube and other drain management experience required.
• Pre- and post-procedure care for radial and femoral access required.
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, including rhythm strips interpretation.
• Advanced knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities required.
• Experience with chest tube removal, pericardial pacing wire removal, and management of temporary pacers.
• Experience with NIV devices and high-flow oxygen delivery.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting.
• Care for cardiac and pulmonary patients, including post-operative open heart cases.
• Day shift schedule with 12-hour shifts.
• Required to work every other weekend.
• No on-call responsibilities.
• Floating to all units within skill level.
• Assess, plan, and evaluate patient care using age-specific criteria.
• Assist in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff.
• Local travelers within 45-mile radius may affect travel pay rate eligibility.
• No more than 5 days of requested time off (RTO).
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position.

• Experience with non-invasive ventilation (NIV) devices, high-flow oxygen, and other oxygen delivery systems required
• Skills checklist current within 1 year pertinent to PCU specialty required for consideration
