Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit/IMC night shift with 3x12 hour shifts (18:45-07:15). The role requires PCU/IMC/Stepdown experience and at least one completed travel assignment, with a 1:4 IMC patient ratio.

Local candidates within 60 miles may receive a lower pay rate; prior MedStar employment must have ended at least one year prior to return as a traveler. Flu vaccine is required.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (MD or Compact) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• 2 years of recent PCU/IMC/Stepdown experience within the last 7 years
• At least one completed travel assignment required for consideration
• Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum 80% overall score and 100% on lethal rhythms
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, chest tubes, and oxygen administration preferred
• Experience with central and peripheral line care, IV therapy, and phlebotomy required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring required
• Experience with heparin protocols, cardiac drip management, and IV insulin protocols required
• Experience managing feeding tubes, isolation precautions/PPE, and renal/dialysis-related care required
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU/IMC) of a hospital setting
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
• IMC patient ratio of 1:4
• Every other weekend coverage required, with weekend assignments directed by unit based on operational needs
• Float required to Telemetry and/or Med-Surg units as needed, which carry a 1:5/1:6 ratio
• Provide direct patient care to progressive/intermediate care unit patients, including cardiac monitoring and respiratory management
• Flu vaccine required for all employees at this facility
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower pay rate
• Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first two weeks of the assignment
• First-time travelers are not eligible; at least one completed travel assignment is required
