Job summary

American Traveler Staffing Professionals is seeking an experienced Travel RN for a Cardiac Step-Down/PCU assignment in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The role requires ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke certification, and at least two years of RN experience.

You will work 12-hour day shifts, 36 hours per week, with every-other weekend scheduling and PCS/Med/Surg float coverage as needed. The position offers a 13-week assignment with hospital-based care, in a 30-bed Cardiac Step-Down unit and a patient-to-nurse

• Active RN license (TN or Compact) required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required.
• Cardiac knowledge preferred, incl. heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone drips.
• Experience with chest tube management, wound vac management, and EKGs preferred.
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration (no Canadian SSN).
• One professional reference required.
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months.

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Step-Down/PCU position requiring ACLS certification and prior cardiac telemetry experience.

Details

• 30-bed Cardiac Step-Down unit within a hospital setting
• Patient-to-nurse ratio of 5-6:1
• Unit supported by unit clerk on days, 2-3 PCTs per shift, nursing supervisor, and hospitalists
• Uses Welch Allyn vitals monitors, Novameter glucose devices, and Philips Telemetry/MP2 monitoring systems
• Charts using Meditech-HCA version EMR
• Medications managed via WOW carts with med drawers and Pyxis ES dispensing system
• 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Scheduling requires working every other weekend (4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule)
• Floating required to other Med/Surg areas including general MS, Ortho, PCU, and M/S surgical with oncology, with rotation unless specific skill mix is needed

Additional Information

• Provide bedside and hourly rounding using the 5 P's method
• Report known patient needs to PCTs at the beginning and throughout shifts
• Document telemetry application and acknowledge rhythm strips each shift
• Adhere to NO PASS ZONE policy for bed alarms, call lights, and IV alarms
• Dress code: RN staff wear navy scrubs; PCT/CNA staff wear ceil blue scrub sets with optional jacket; plain white, blue, grey, or black undershirts allowed with no graphics
• Unit recognized for Daisy and Bee Awards and iHEAL nominations
• Charge nurses on staff with significant tenure (12-39 years on dayshift, 15+ years on nightshift)
• Shared governance model in place at both unit and facility levels
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
