Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN Stepdown for a travel nursing job in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The RN will care for adult patients in a step down unit with diagnoses including heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke, using titratable and fixed-rate drips and interpreting telemetry.

The role requires 2+ years of RN experience, valid licensure with BLS/ACLS/NIHSS certifications, and a 90%+ orientation exam score.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa or ability to obtain.
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Pass/fail orientation exam with a score of 90% or higher.
• Experience in step-down or critical care preferred.
• Ability to interpret telemetry.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for adult patients in a step-down unit with diagnoses such as heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke.
• Manage titratable and fixed-rate drips (Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro).
• Troubleshoot CPAP and interpret telemetry strips.
• Maintain a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio; collaborate with charge nurse and support staff.
• May float to ICU if experienced and appropriate; respond to emergencies.
