  • Vasopressors, continuous sedation, and anti-seizure medication administration experience
  • Hemodynamic monitoring and dysrhythmia management experience

  • May train orientee in PICU procedures
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including CNAs and med clerk

American Traveler is hiring a PICU RN for a night-shift assignment requiring an active AK RN license and 2+ years of PICU experience.

Details
  • PICU unit within an acute care Magnet hospital
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
  • PICU patient ratio 1:2, with ventilated patients typically 1:1
  • Pediatric floor ratios of 1:4 for float assignments
  • Support staff includes CNAs and a med clerk; charge nurse typically carries no patient load
  • No pod structure on the unit
  • Every other weekend required
  • Float required within scope to NICU and Peds units
  • No on-call requirements
  • Block scheduling accommodated
  • Uses Cerner charting system; Epic experience preferred
Requirements
  • Active AK RN license required prior to start; compact license accepted at time of submission with proof of AK application in process
  • Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
  • BLS and PALS certification required

Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care in the PICU, including managing ventilated and critically ill pediatric patients
  • May occasionally be paired with an orientee undergoing PICU training, though this would not be the primary assignment
  • Must be culturally sensitive when caring for the Native population served by the facility
  • Navy scrub color required (L&D/OR scrubs provided)
  • No cost parking available near the facility
  • COVID vaccination acknowledgment required at time of submission
  • Must complete onsite orientation modules and annual competency modules via HealthStream
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Previous staff must have a 2-year gap before returning as a traveler
  • Local candidates not accepted; must reside at least 100 miles from the facility
  • No changes to contract terms (RTO, start date, shift, bill rate) permitted once signed
