Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a PCU travel nurse for a 13-week assignment in Overland Park, Kansas. The role supports patients needing close monitoring but not ICU care, using monitoring tech to detect changes and intervene as needed.

The PCU RN provides bedside care, administers medications, and manages monitoring equipment, with a focus on stable cardiac and step-down patients. 12-hour nights and a 36-hour week structure the schedule.

Qualifications

• ACLS and BLS certifications required.
• 2 years recent acute care experience.
• Additional certifications may be required before assignment.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care; stabilize critical cardiac patients.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, and interpret and record electronic displays.
• Initiate corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
