Job summary

TotalMed is seeking a travel nurse RN for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Norfolk, Virginia. The assignment is 13 weeks with 36 hours per week, featuring 12-hour night shifts. Immediate start for an RN with 1–2 years of acute care experience.

PCU nurses monitor patients closely, titrate IV medications, and respond to changes in condition. PCU RNs work with cardiac and other monitoring equipment, perform bedside care, and cooperate with the care team to stabilize and assess patients.

Qualifications

• ACLS and BLS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience.
• RN license and active status required.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care and stabilize cardiac patients.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Administer and document prescribed medications; report adverse reactions.
• Monitor specialized equipment and interpret electronic displays; intervene as needed.
