Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care/Telemetry Unit in Bloomington, IN. This travel position covers PCU with occasional MedSurg care, requiring 18 months of relevant RN experience and strong cardiac/telemetry skills.

The assignment involves 12-hour night shifts, no on-call, and a mix of acuity; you’ll float within the hospital as needed, using Cerner EMR, and caring for post-cardiac and thoracic surgery patients.

Qualifications

• Active IN or compact RN license required; pending licenses accepted but must be in hand prior to start
• Minimum of 18 months recent PCU or MedSurg RN experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program required
• Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias, manage post-cardiac surgery patients, TAVI/TAVR, arterial lines, blood products, central/PICC line care, and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Experience with intra-aortic balloon pump, pre/post cardiac cath, sheath removal, LVAD/RVAD/Impella, or ventilator management preferred

Responsibilities

• Work on a mix acuity Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with occasional MedSurg coverage
• Patient population includes cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, endocrine, oncology, and flex acuity patients up to ICU level
• Night shifts, typically 3 or 4 twelve-hour shifts per week
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within hospital or to affiliated hospitals as needed
• Cerner EMR system is used and prior Cerner experience is required
• Private rooms with overhead lifts and telemetry monitoring
• Must be comfortable caring for high acuity patients including post-cardiac and thoracic surgery
• Will assist with specialized procedures and device management as needed
