Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an RN for an Orthopedics unit in California. The role requires a CA RN license, BLS, and at least 1 year of experience in ortho/trauma care, with responsibilities including direct patient care on a 277-bed acute care unit and a 3x12-hour daytime schedule.

First-time travelers welcome; housing and licensure reimbursements provided. You'll float among facilities within the state, use Epic EMR, and must commit to three major holidays.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license (Compact license must be in hand at submission).
• Current BLS certification required.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required.
• Trauma Level I experience required; Level II experience preferred.
• Experience with orthopedic trauma, total joint replacement, and traction.
• IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs.
• Respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, nasal cannula, and oxygen administration.
• PCA medications, cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and rapid response/code team protocols.
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE.
• Feeding tube care and management.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Orthopedics unit of an acute care hospital with 277 staffed beds.
• Patient ratio of 1:5.
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
• Required to work every other weekend.
• No on-call responsibilities.
• Floating required between like units and sister facilities within the state.
• Epic EMR used.
• Provide direct patient care to orthopedic and ortho trauma patients.
• Royal blue or navy blue scrubs required for RNs.
• Free parking available on-site.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Local candidates accepted, though a 50-mile radius rule applies for former permanent staff.
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius.
• Can only be submitted to one Providence facility at a time.
• RTO requests must be submitted at time of application.
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day).
• Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years.
