Responsibilities

• Adhere to 5x8 day shift, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM schedule.
• Be available within 30 minutes for on-call shifts; on-call pattern 3 days on/3 days off.
• Floating to other facilities within the health system as needed.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced CVOR RN for a cardiovascular operating room position requiring IL licensure and prior travel experience.

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in hand required; emergency or pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 1 year of direct CVOR experience required; 2 years preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• BSN required
• Current BLS certification through AHA required
• ACLS certification through AHA preferred
• Skills checklist and 2 professional references required, with one from a Supervisor, Manager, or Charge RN within the last year
• Experience with cardiovascular procedures including CABG, aortic aneurysm repair, IABP, MAZE procedure, mitral valve replacement, and pericardial window
• Experience with TAVR and LVAD/RVAD preferred
• Experience with atrial septal defect repair preferred
• Scrub cardiovascular surgery experience preferred
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of consideration and cannot be added afterward

Responsibilities

• Work in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) of a hospital setting
• Circulate cardiac surgery cases across all services except ophthalmology and transplant
• Scrub capability for cardiovascular surgery preferred
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
• 40-hour work week with a 30-minute meal break
• On-call requirement with a 3-days-on, 3-days-off rotation
• Must be available within 30 minutes of the hospital for on-call shifts
• Weekend requirement is on-call only
• Floating to another facility required during training
• May be subject to floating between facilities within the health system upon request
• Provide circulating and potentially scrubbing support for a wide range of cardiovascular surgical procedures
• Complete specialty-specific training modules during orientation
• Local candidates accepted at a local rate within a 75-mile radius
• Employment history with Northwestern Medicine or any acquired facilities must be disclosed if applicable
• Vaccination status must be provided for consideration
• First-time travelers are not specified as eligible for this role given the travel experience requirement
