Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a night shift RN for our Emergency Department in Kentucky. A valid KY or compact RN license and BLS certification are required; ACLS and PALS are required as well. ADN/ASN is required with BSN preferred, and prior ED experience is a plus.

The position features a 3x12-hour night schedule (7p–7a), 36 hours per week, and a 24/7 ED with a broad patient mix. Local candidates within 75 miles may be eligible for a lower rate, with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (KY or compact)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS and PALS certifications required
• ADN or ASN required; BSN preferred
• Prior ED nursing experience preferred
• Experience with triage, cardiac and stroke patients, pediatric emergencies, and respiratory patients preferred
• IV access/phlebotomy, procedural sedation, and stabilization preferred
• Ability to assess age-specific patient safety issues and implement appropriate safety devices
• Last 4 digits of SSN and MM/DD of date of birth required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Freestanding 12-bed ED affiliated with a larger hospital system, open 24/7
• Treats all patients as ED cases, ranging from pediatric through geriatric populations
• Averages 50-60 patient visits per day with capacity for both critical care stabilization and lower-acuity care
• Nursing team manages respiratory treatments and equipment including BiPAP/CPAP and ventilation
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts, 7p-7a
• 36 hours per week
• Weekends and holidays required as needed
• Implements professional nursing practice centered on patient-focused, evidence-based care
• Performs comprehensive patient assessments and develops individualized care plans
• Facilitates admission, transfer, and discharge activities including patient and family education
• Delegates and oversees tasks performed by other care team membersParticipates in unit-based quality improvement activities and core measures
• Candidates must live within a 75-mile radius; local candidates accepted at a lower rate
• Strong teamwork, adaptability, and willingness to assist wherever needed are valued
