Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Newborn Nursery role requiring postpartum experience and the ability to manage patients independently at a 1:5-6 ratio.

Responsibilities include caring for a 40-bed Women’s Services/Postpartum unit with NICU-capable newborns, on-call duties, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced setting. The assignment runs 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM over a 13-week period; travel housing and licensure reimbursements are offered.

Qualifications

• Active TX or compact RN license required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience, including Level 4 NICU.
• Postpartum experience required.
• Ability to manage patient load independently at a 1:5-6 ratio.
• Antepartum experience preferred.
• Familiarity with CPN and Meditech systems preferred.
• NRP Advanced 9th Edition certification required.
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months.
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Women's Services/Postpartum unit with 40 beds and 47 total staff members.
• Newborn Nursery position with NICU-capable requirements and on-call responsibilities.
• Patient ratios of 1:5 or 1:6.
• Uses bladder scanner, doppler, breast pump, glucometer, and vital sign machine.
• EMR systems include CPN and Meditech.
• Shift runs 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM over a 13-week assignment.
• Requires 3 weekends per schedule period.
• Unit primarily cares for postpartum mothers with occasional antepartum patients.
• Perform maternal assessments and manage admission and discharge processes.
• Coordinate patient education regarding postpartum care and follow-up.
• Provide postpartum pain management.
• Navy blue scrub color required.
• Strong collaboration skills and a team-player mindset are valued.
• Calm, flexible, and responsive demeanor needed in a fast-paced environment.
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates are not accepted.
