Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Mother-Baby/Couplet Care/Post Partum RN with at least 1 year of specialty experience and antepartum/fetal monitoring skills for a night shift assignment.

The unit is a 32-bed Mother-Baby/Couplet Care and Post Partum unit; typical ratios are 1:3 couples, uses Epic for charting, nights 19:00-07:00, 3x12 hours, with rotating days and weekend/on-call as needed.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Colorado or compact)
• BLS and NRP certification required
• Minimum 1 year of specialty experience required
• Travel experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• IV therapy, starting/maintaining IVs, and administration of blood and blood products
• Antepartum care including NST, EFM, and reflex/edema/clonus assessments preferred
• Newborn care including cord care, thermoregulation, discharge teaching, and metabolic screening preferred
• Postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum care, cesarean section, and postpartum hemorrhage preferred
• Pain management including epidural management and PCA use preferred

Responsibilities

• Cares for Mother-Baby, Couplet Care, and Post Partum unit with 32 beds
• Cares for postpartum patients not requiring ICU level care and high-risk patient populations
• Cares for newborns 2000g and above not requiring NICU level care; includes late preterm and substance-exposed newborns
• Typical ratios are 1:3 couplets, up to 6 patients
• Uses Epic for charting
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00), with rotating days of the week; option for nights only
• Weekend coverage required per unit needs
• On-call required per unit needs
• Float required to Antepartum and L&D for those trained in fetal monitoring
• Manages phototherapy, magnesium drips, insulin drips, heparin drips, and PCA/PCEA pumps
• Provides breastfeeding support for postpartum patients
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Provides couplet care and breastfeeding support following baby-friendly protocols
• Assists with circumcision care and education, car seat education, and newborn discharge teaching
• Manages high-risk postpartum patients including those with pregnancy-induced hypertension, multiple births, and postpartum hemorrhage
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
• Candidates previously employed by UCHealth or its affiliates must disclose name used during employment
• Maximum 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout dates during peak holiday and seasonal periods
• No blocked scheduling requests permitted
• Completion of facility-specific modules required within the first week of assignment
• Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are eligible for the local bill rate
