Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU assignment in California. Requires CA RN license, BSN, BLS/ACLS, teaching hospital experience, and travel nursing background. Epics EMR proficiency and a 12-hour rotating schedule are expected.

The role includes ICU-level care for neuro and trauma patients, potential float to nearby units, and strict time-off disclosure during the contract. Prior UC facility experience may be relevant.

• Prior charge nurse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Neuro ICU at a teaching hospital.
• Variable 12-hour day and night shifts (3x12), with day shifts 7:00-19:30 and night shifts 19:00-7:30.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Floating to other departments, units, or facilities within a 75+ mile radius may be required at any time during the assignment.
• Provide critical care nursing to neuro and trauma ICU patients, including complex neurological and multisystem cases.
• Must disclose all requested time off at time of submission, with manager approval required and no additional requests accepted mid-contract.
• Time off is not permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment.
• Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed, including dates, units, and manager names for rehire eligibility review.
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring a CA RN license, BSN, and teaching hospital experience.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• BSN required
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Neuro ICU and Trauma ICU experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, central/arterial/PICC line management, blood product administration, and TPN/lipids
• Experience in care of ventilated patients, tracheostomy care, ABG interpretation, and ventilator management
• Experience with neurological care including CVA/stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy, and TBI/spinal cord injury management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and titration of vasoactive/cardiac drips preferred
• 2 professional references from most recent employer required for consideration
