American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Level III NICU assignment in Salem, Oregon. This 13-week travel position requires at least two years of acute care NICU experience and current NRP certification. Night shifts run 19:00–7:30 with a 3x12-hour schedule.

The role involves caring for neonates across a wide gestational range, providing family-centered care, and potentially floating to Pediatrics or a nearby affiliate hospital. Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork are essential.

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Level III NICU position requiring at least two years of acute care NICU experience and NRP certification.

Details
  • Level III NICU setting providing family-centered neonatal care
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
  • Cares for neonates ranging from <24-28 weeks to >34 weeks gestation
  • Possible float to Pediatrics or to a nearby affiliate hospital (West Valley Hospital, approx. 15 minutes away)
  • Epic charting system preferred

Requirements
  • Active, unencumbered Oregon RN license required
  • BLS certification (AHA) required
  • NRP certification required within 90 days of start
  • STABLE certification required within 12 months of start
  • PALS certification preferred
  • Minimum of two years acute care NICU RN experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, UAC/UVC care, and administration of blood products and emergency medications
  • Experience with neonatal dosage calculations, surfactant administration, and anti-seizure medications
  • Competent in ventilator management, high frequency oscillation, CPAP, and nitric oxide therapy
  • Knowledge of thermoregulation, phototherapy, and neonatal abstinence syndrome care
  • Strong communication, organizational, delegation, and team leadership skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure using sound clinical judgment
Additional Information
  • Provide comprehensive, family-centered nursing care to critically ill neonates
  • Attend high-risk deliveries and assist with procedures such as lumbar punctures
  • Support breastfeeding and manage feeding methods including gavage and NG/NJ tube placement
  • Monitor for complications such as NEC, sepsis, and respiratory distress syndrome
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams and Interpretive Services as needed
  • Former Salem Health permanent employees must wait six months post-termination before applying for travel positions
  • Facility does not accommodate block scheduling
  • RTO must be finalized prior to submission, with no changes accepted afterward
  • Refusing to float to affiliated units may result in contract cancellation
