Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Medical ICU RN for a night shift assignment in Ohio. Candidates must have at least 2 years MICU experience, Epic proficiency, and an active OH license.

Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS, with competency in ventilator management and telemetry. The role involves 3x12 night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM), patient loads around 1:1 to 1:2, and travel-ready status with strict Ohio compliance timelines.

Qualifications

• Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration.
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA certifications only).
• Minimum 2 years of Medical ICU experience required.
• Epic charting system experience required.
• Proficient in IV starts and telemetry.
• Competency with ventilator management.
• Skilled in continuous IV sedation administration.
• Experience interpreting and managing cardiac dysrhythmias.
• Experience with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure.
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program.
• Two professional references required; at least one from a manager/director/supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) setting.
• Patient ratios of approximately 1:1-2.
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM).
• Schedule may rotate every 4 weeks between day and night shifts.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Care for patients with multisystem organ failure, respiratory failure, sepsis, and more.
• Uses continuous glucose monitoring for hyperglycemia management.
• Utilizes externalized IV pumps for critical patients.
• Care involves GE ventilators and advanced monitors.
• Provide direct care to critically ill medical ICU patients requiring close monitoring.
• RTO must be submitted with application, limited to 7 days.
• Ohio fingerprinting required promptly after signing.
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position.

• Equipment used includes NxStage CRRT, Alaris IV pumps, GE cardiac monitors, and GE ventilators
• Provide direct care to critically ill medical ICU patients requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions
• Boom lift equipment available in each patient room
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
• RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract due to strict compliance timelines
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
