Qualifications

• Skills checklist for Medical Surgical nursing current within 1 year.
• At least 1 supervisory-signed reference from within the past two years.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients on Acute Med Surg units and in rehab units.
• Maintain nurse to patient ratio of 1:4/5 with census ~22.
• Work 12-hour night shifts 7:30 PM–7:00 AM.
• Occasional weekends and holidays, with on-call requirements.
• May float between units within scope of practice.
• Coordinate total nursing care and patient/family education.
• Provide nursing leadership in collaboration with the care team.
• May serve as backup Charge Nurse.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med Surg/Telemetry night shift position requiring Charge RN experience and prior travel assignment history.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Acute Med Surg unit within a 35-bed critical access community hospital
• 25 inpatient medical-surgical beds plus a 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1 to 4/5 with an average daily census of 22
• 12-hour night shifts from 7:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required, with holiday coverage as needed
• On-call required for this position
• May float between Acute Rehab and Med Surg and to any unit within scope of practice
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Coordinates total nursing care for patients and participates in patient and family teaching
• Provides nursing leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and patient care team personnel
• May be asked to serve as a backup Charge Nurse
• No block scheduling accommodations will be considered for this assignment
• All scheduling requests must be submitted at time of profile submission; requests made after offer will not be approved
• No more than 5 days of RTO will be accepted during the assignment
• Must work two full holiday blocks if scheduled: Thanksgiving Day through the following weekend, Christmas Eve through Christmas Day and the following weekend, and New Year's Eve through New Year's Day and the following weekend
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this assignment
• Call-offs must be communicated to the unit supervisor at least 1.5 hours in advance
• After 3 call-offs, contract may be eligible for termination at the facility's discretion
