Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Travel RN for a Med/Surg unit in Illinois. This Magnet Hospital assignment runs 36 hours per week on evenings (three 12-hour shifts), starts Sep 14, 2026, for 13 weeks with six weekends in six weeks and holiday coverage.

Active IL RN license and at least one year of Med/Surg experience are required; ASN is required, BSN preferred. RNs will provide postoperative care, tracheostomy and wound management, use Epic for charting, and educate patients and families.

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted).
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• Minimum of one year of relevant nursing experience required.
• ASN required, BSN preferred.
• Experience with tracheostomy care, wound and wound vac management, and ostomy care.
• Skilled in patient and family education.
• Experience collaborating with surgical residency services.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary care in a surgical unit for postoperative patients.
• Complete initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Collaborate with general surgical and OMFS residency services.
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic to support continuity of care.
• Report safety hazards and educate patients and families.
