Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment in Lincoln, Nebraska. Requires at least 1 year of RN experience and Nebraska or Compact RN license, plus BLS. The unit is Med/Surg with 42 beds and a dyad care model with CNA and virtual nurse support.

Responsibilities include caring for medical, surgical, and orthopedic patients, with 12-hour night shifts 1830-0700 and no call. Travel housing and licensure reimbursements are offered.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Nebraska or Compact) required at submission
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience
• Driver's license required
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Responsibilities

• Acute care Med/Surg unit with 42 beds
• Patient population includes medical, surgical, and orthopedic diagnoses
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6-7, with a 1:6 ratio occurring at least once weekly
• Dyad care model with dedicated CNA support and virtual nurse support
• Charge RN present on each shift and may take an assignment
• Centralized tele monitoring available, with telemetry present on the floor
• Respiratory Therapy available 24 hours on the floor
• No titratable drips administered on the unit except Heparin
• 12-hour night shifts, scheduled 1830-0700
• Weekend and holiday coverage required as needed
• No call or standby requirements
• Floating required to PCU or Burn units
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Provide direct nursing care within a dyad care model supported by a dedicated CNA and virtual nurse
• Unit orientation includes one week of classroom training followed by two 12-hour shifts on the floor
• Must pass a pass/fail open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% or risk contract termination
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply will result in contract termination
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, verified by driver's license
• Candidates may not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
• PRN employment through outside staffing firms will be considered
• Up to 7 days of requested time off allowed per 13-week contract, submitted upfront; additional RTO requests will not be approved
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
