Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift on a 37-bed unit in Michigan. You will care for medical, surgical, and oncology patients with diverse diagnoses and participate in floating to other Med/Surg units.

Requirements include Michigan RN license, BLS, 1 year Med/Surg experience (2 years preferred), and supervisor references. Night shifts are 3x12 hours (19:00–7:30) with weekend rotation and possible 36/48 hour weeks.

Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license required (pending license accepted with ETA).
• BLS certification (AHA) required, pending accepted with confirmation of willingness to obtain.
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience required, 2 years preferred.
• Supervisor-level references required.

Responsibilities

• Work on a 37-bed Medical, Surgical, and Oncology unit caring for a wide variety of patient types.
• Care for general medical diagnosis patients as well as GI, urological, and gynecological surgical patients.
• Unit also sees ortho/neurovascular and cardio/pulmonary patients.
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00-7:30.
• 36 or 48 hour work weeks available.
• Staffing ratio of 1:5-6 at night, flexing up to 8 patients with LPN support.
• Required to work every other weekend.
• Floating to other Med/Surg units required, typically about once per week.
• Works alongside a variety of staff including RNs, LPNs, and Techs.
• Must be available for the first two weeks of the assignment.
• Holiday coverage required with no guaranteed holiday time off.
• RTO limited to no more than 10 days.
• Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments.
• Proof of flu vaccination required with consideration, exemption requests must be submitted within 48 hours of signing.
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction.
• Previous travelers may return after 6 months, previous permanent staff may return after 1 year.
