Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a night-shift Med/Surg RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Louisiana. Requires BLS certification and an LA state license or compact; BSN is preferred and Epic EMR experience is a plus.

Responsibilities include caring for post-surgical patients on a high-acuity unit with a 5:1 to 6:1 patient ratio, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM shifts, and no on-call requirements. Temp-to-perm possibility and local rate within 50 miles may apply.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• Active RN license (LA state or compact) required.
• 1 year of related nursing experience preferred.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Care for acute Medical/Surgical unit patients, including post-surgical patients such as orthopedics, general surgery, and neuro.
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1 to 6:1 based on staffing.
• Work night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Administer medications and monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care.
• Address physical, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Acute Medical/Surgical unit focused on post-surgical patients including orthopedics, general surgery, and neuro populations
• Nurse to patient ratio of 5:1 to 6:1 depending on staffing
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Full-time, 13-week assignment
• Weekend scheduling may be required based on facility need
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic EMR
• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
• Administer medications and treatments while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Address patients' and families' psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers
• Ceil Blue scrubs required
• Temp-to-perm possibility available for this role
• Candidates must live within a 50-mile radius to be considered for the local rate
• Previous CHRISTUS facility employees must have a 6-month separation period before starting a travel assignment
