Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an Interventional Radiology RN for a Magnet-designated, Level III Trauma teaching hospital in Minneapolis. Requires at least 1 year of IR experience and Epic proficiency. Day shifts are 4x10s, with 1:5 overall patient ratio and 1:1:1 during procedures.

Occasional on-call and weekend work may be required. Highly specialized IR team environment and strong credentialing standards. Active MN RN license with BLS/ACLS is required; NIHSS preferred.

Qualifications

  • Active MN RN license (pending accepted).
  • Current BLS and ACLS; NIHSS preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of Interventional Radiology experience.
  • Epic/Excellian charting experience required.
  • Experience with IV therapy and sedation in IR.

Responsibilities

  • Support Interventional Radiology, CT, MRI, US and Pre/Post care.
  • Care for both inpatient and outpatient populations.
  • Work day shifts: 7:00–17:30 or 8:00–18:30.
  • Maintain patient ratios and assist during procedures.
  • Occasional weekend and on-call duties as able.
  • Utilize Epic/Excellian EMR and Air Pal for patient movement.

Description

  • Radiology department nursing covering Interventional Radiology, CT, MRI, US, and Pre/Post (Phase 2 Recovery) care
  • Both inpatient and outpatient patient population
  • Day shift, 4x10 hour shifts (7:00 AM-5:30 PM or 8:00 AM-6:30 PM)
  • Patient ratio of 1:5 overall, with 1:1:1 during procedures and 2-3:1 in pre/post recovery
  • Occasional weekend call required (only if able)
  • Occasional on-call required (only if able)
  • No floating required outside of scope
  • Not open to block scheduling
  • Uses Epic/Excellian EMR
  • Uses Air Pal for safe patient movement in IR rooms, ceiling lifts in CT rooms, and NK monitors with EtCO2 monitoring
Requirements
  • Active MN RN license (pending license accepted)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the specialty required
  • Epic/Excellian charting experience required
  • Experience with moderate sedation, EtCO2 monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
  • Experience with IV therapy, PICC line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Experience with biopsies, tubes, lines, drains, lytics, thrombectomies, and embolization procedures preferred
  • Chest tube placement, lung biopsy, thoracentesis, gastrostomy tube placement, liver ablation/biopsy, and TIPS experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • 1 supervisor reference required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide prep and recovery care for procedural patients undergoing IR, CT, US, and nuclear medicine exams
  • Monitor MRI patients with pacemakers and administer anxiolysis and medications for nuclear med patients
  • Support select cases involving anesthesia
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • Work at a short-term acute care, Magnet-designated, teaching, Level III Trauma hospital
  • Candidates may float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted for this radiology position, with no radius restriction
  • RTO ideally no more than 5 days
  • Returning staff must have been gone at least 3 months from their last perm (staff or per diem) shift
