Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced Neuro ICU RN for travel assignments in Texas, requiring at least 2 years in neuro ICU and prior travel experience. Candidate must hold an active TX or compact RN license, with BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Prior ICU travel experience, central line and ventilator management skills, and Epic charting familiarity are preferred. Open to 36-hour night shifts, weekends, and floats to ICU/IMC/Tele as needed; housing allowance and travel

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience.
• Active TX or compact RN license required at time of consideration.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Epic charting experience preferred.
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred.
• IV therapy, blood product administration, and central line care/management.
• Ventilated patient care and respiratory/thoracic management.
• Neurological skills including stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and post-neurosurgery care.
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit.
• 36-hour night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts.
• Weekend shifts required.
• Float to ICU/IMC/Tele units as needed.
• 1:2 patient ratio.
• Uses Epic charting system.
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neuro ICU patients.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Neuro ICU RN requiring at least 2 years of neuro ICU experience and prior travel experience.

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration


• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS


• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required


• Prior travel nursing experience required


• Epic charting experience preferred


• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred


• Skilled in IV therapy, blood product administration, and central line care/management


• Experience with ventilated patient care and respiratory/thoracic management


• Neurological skills required, including CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury care


• Cardiac monitoring skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias

• Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties are not eligible for consideration


• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted


• Previous staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler


• No travel pairs or groups accepted


• All RTO must be disclosed at time of consideration, with no more than 3 days auto-approved and none during the first week of orientation
