Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift travel position in Indiana. The ideal candidate has active Indiana or Compact RN licensure, BLS/ACLS, and at least 1 year of ICU experience.

The role requires critical care proficiency, ability to manage ventilators and vasoactive drips, and flexibility to float to PCU/Med-Surg as needed. This is a travel assignment with shift-specific details and local-area considerations.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Indiana or Compact) required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience required.
• Strong critical care experience with critically ill adult patients required.
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, ventilator management, and titration of vasoactive drips.
• Ability to work independently in a community hospital ICU setting.
• Sepsis management, Rapid Response, and Code Blue experience preferred.
• Experience floating to PCU/Med-Surg preferred.

Responsibilities

• 8-bed ICU within an Intensive Care Medical Surgical Nursing unit.
• Patient ratios of 1:2 in ICU and 1:3 in PCU.
• Cares for medical ICU patients including sepsis, respiratory failure, DKA, cardiac, and stroke patients requiring telemetry.
• Manages post-procedure and post-operative ICU patients requiring vasoactive medications and ventilator support.
• Uses Philips telemetry monitoring, cardiac monitors, IV infusion pumps, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, mechanical ventilators, crash cart, defibrillator, and continuous pulse oximetry.
• Epic EMR used.
• 3x12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• Works every 4th weekend.
• No call requirements.
• Required to float to Med/Surg, PCU, and ED as needed, and may be assigned to another Franciscan Health facility based on staffing needs.
• Works closely with providers, ED staff, and house supervisors in a smaller community hospital environment.
• Cares for a wide variety of patient populations within an 8-bed ICU.
• Team-oriented, flexible, and comfortable assisting across departments during emergent situations.
• Navy blue scrubs required; open-toed shoes, excessive jewelry, artificial nails, and non-approved attire are not permitted.
• Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius are considered local and may be eligible at a reduced bill rate.
