Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a GI/Endoscopy position at an academic Level 1 trauma center, requiring moderate sedation expertise and Epic EMR experience.

Responsibilities include pre/post care for sedation levels, recovery in PACU, and procedural support for GI and bronchoscopy cases. The position features day/evening shifts, 40 hours per week, and a 13-week assignment in Madison, WI with travel compensation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in GI/Endoscopy within the last 3 years.
• Academic Level 1 trauma center or similarly sized hospital experience required.
• Epic EMR experience required, preferably within the past 12 months.
• Must be able to perform moderate sedation administration and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Endoscopy department of a teaching hospital setting, both inpatient and outpatient.
• Perform pre/post care for all sedation levels including PACU Phase I and Phase II recovery.
• Recover patients from sedated GI and pulmonary procedures including ERCP, EUS, EGD, colonoscopy, endoscopy, and bronchoscopy.
• Some patients receive general anesthesia rather than moderate sedation.
• Day/evening 8-hour shifts with rotating start times between 6:30am-10:30am.
• May be required to stay past scheduled end of shift to complete the day's case schedule.
• Floating required as needed.
• Epic EMR used.

Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a GI/Endoscopy position at an academic Level 1 trauma center requiring moderate sedation expertise and Epic experience.

Details

• Work in the Endoscopy department of a teaching hospital setting, both inpatient and outpatient

• Utilizes an RN-driven sedation assessment approach based on Ramsay Sedation Scale scoring
• Recover patients from sedated GI and pulmonary procedures including ERCP, EUS, EGD, colonoscopy, endoscopy, and bronchoscopy
• Some patients receive general anesthesia rather than moderate sedation
• Day/evening 8-hour shifts with rotating start times between 6:30am-10:30am
• May be required to stay past scheduled end of shift to complete the day's case schedule
• Floating required as needed
• Epic EMR used

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license required (pending WI license accepted with submission)
• Current ACLS and BLS certification (AHA) required
• CGRN certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in GI/Endoscopy specialty within the last 3 years
• Academic Level 1 trauma center or similarly sized hospital experience required
• Epic EMR experience required, preferably within the past 12 months
• Must be able to perform moderate sedation administration and monitoring
• Skilled in airway management and recovering conscious sedation and monitored anesthesia care
• Experience with 12-lead EKG/ECG, IV starts, and medication administration including opioid analgesics, Propofol, reversal agents, and Versed
• Must pass a telemetry exam prior to starting, with strict passing criteria for adult and pediatric rhythm identification

Additional Information

• Care for patients undergoing bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, EGD, EBUS, EUS, ERCP, and esophageal variceal banding/sclerotherapy procedures
• Use specialized equipment including balloon dilators, bronchoscopy carts, electrosurgical units, ERBE units, forceps, lithotripters, and polyp snares
• Facility is a Magnet-designated academic medical center ranked as Wisconsin's top hospital
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Travel experience required, though candidates with high acuity or Level 1 trauma experience may be considered
• Pediatric endoscopy experience preferred
