Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a GI/Endoscopy position in California, a 13-week travel assignment starting Oct 12, 2026. The role features day shifts (4x10 hours) from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM and requires an active CA RN license with a minimum of three years' nursing experience.

The RN will perform bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, EGD, and ERCP, administer conscious sedation, and chart in Epic. Travel lodging and stipends are provided; holiday coverage may apply.

  • Ambulatory surgery/endoscopy experience within the past 2 years required
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Experience administering and monitoring conscious sedation
  • Experience with specimen handling and labeling
  • Experience in interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
  • Prior scrub and circulate experience for endoscopy procedures preferred
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required

Responsibilities

  • Provide care in acute endoscopy/GI setting across inpatient, outpatient, and field assignments
  • Perform endoscopy procedures including bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, EGD, and ERCP
  • Administer and monitor conscious sedation and manage airway during recovery
  • Start and maintain IVs and administer pre-procedure meds
  • Document in Epic and ensure accurate charting
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary plan of care and communicate with team and patients

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a GI/Endoscopy position requiring recent ambulatory surgery/endoscopy experience and an active CA RN license.

Details
  • Acute care hospital setting within the Endoscopy department
  • Works in inpatient, outpatient endoscopy center, and portable/bedside travel case settings
  • Performs procedures including bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, EGD, and ERCP
  • Utilizes equipment such as balloon dilators, dilators, electrosurgical units, forceps, and polyp snares
  • Administers and monitors conscious sedation, including Versed, and manages airway during recovery
  • Starts and maintains IVs and administers pre-procedure medications
  • Day shift schedule, 4x10-hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM
  • Uses Epic for charting
Requirements

  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
  • Local candidates accepted at the local rate
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius to qualify for travel rate
  • Returning employees must have a one-year separation before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
